Special Diets

We hope the following information is helpful...

Revive is a healthy vegetarian cafe.  We use all plant based products with the exception of small amounts of dairy in some dishes and eggs in our frittata.

May contain traces of ...

Please note that while we take reasonable care, all food is made in the same kitchen and served along side other dishes.  So all of our food may contain traces of dairy, wheat, gluten, nuts, soy and other ingredients.

We are unable to (and our staff are not authorised to) give any complete assurances about the presence or lack or any ingredient in any dish at Revive.

Nutritional Information

Revive does not currently provide nutritional information for our dishes.  We change our menu daily and have many different dishes that vary with seasons and avaibility of ingredients.  In addition the law requires that if you provide nurtitional information you need to provide a full nutrition table.  Sometime in the future we may be able to support this level of administrative work.

However we do believe it is usually unhealthy to chase one particular nutritional component (eg. calories, fat, salt, carbs, protein).  Many people take dietary shortcuts by looking for unhealthy foods that is low or high in a particular measure.  For example you can consume only a couple of calories a day if you drink diet coke.

If you eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, beans, healthy oils and whole grains combined the 8 keys to healthy living then you will have a very healthy body.

Gluten & Wheat Free (labelled G)

Our hotpot, soup, frittata and most salads are gluten free.

Around 3/4 of our dishes are gluten free.  Actually not because we designed it that way - but we find that the healthiest and unprocessed ingredients are generally gluten free.

While there is nothing evil about gluten, the western diet has become full of gluten - mostly processed - which our bodies cannot handle.  So just consume in smaller quantites and in wholegrain forms.

We look out for hidden gluten additives - and these are not hidden in any ingredients.   The only exception is the rice noodle salad that contains soy sauce that has wheat in it.

Dairy Free (labelled V)

Our hotpot, soup, smoothies and most salads are dairy free.

Usually 7 out of 9 of our salads are dairy free - the ones with dairy just have feta cheese.  The meal of the day is sometimes dairy free.

Vegan

Anything labelled with a V does not contain eggs or dairy.  We occassionally use honey in some dishes (eg. Honey Mustard Roasted Potatoes) but this will be labelled.  We use date puree as our sweetener of choice.

Nut & seed allergies

We do use peanuts, other nuts and seeds in a number of dishes.  However there would be around half the dishes that would not use these ingredients on any particular week. Please ask serving staff to assist.  Please remember all food at Revive may contain traces of seeds or nuts as it is prepared in the same kitchen.

Pregnant?

We do have many pregnant people eating our meals and salads at Revive.

While we take care with preparation, turn our food over quickly and being vegetarian the risk of food poisoning is very low, we cannot give any absolute guarantees and you do need to make the decision yourself.

Revive does not use eggs or any animal products in dressings so we believe that removes one of the larger risk factors with salads.

Onion and Garlic

Some eastern philosophies advocate not eating onion and garlic.  We disagree with this philosophy and believe onion and galic to be very healthful ingredients with great nutritional benefits. In addition vegetarian food needs a little extra help getting flavoursome so onion and garlic are used extensively in our meals. If you do not eat onion and garlic you will not find much at Revive that is suitable for you.
