Cooking your own black beans offer far more flavor than canned beans, especially when you add some spices of choice! Dried beans are also a lot less expensive than canned beans, and they reduce waste (no cans to throw away).
Place 1 cup beans in a pot with 3 cups of water. Bring to a boil, turn heat to low, lid and simmer covered checking occassionally to make sure the beans are still covered in water.
- Soaked, Cook the Beans for 45-60 Minutes
- Unsoaked, Cook the Beans for 50-65 Minutes
Ratio is 1:3 of beans and water.
